COUNCIL PAYS TRIBUTE TO RACE CAR DRIVER SEBASTIEN BOURDAIS

St. Petersburg (December 20, 2007) - At its Dec. 21 meeting at 3 p.m., St. Petersburg City Council will pay tribute to its local "Hometown Hero," three-time defending Champ Car World Series champion Sebastien Bourdais. He will be honored by City Council with a proclamation declaring Thursday "Sebastien Bourdais Day," a key to the city and special gifts.

Bourdais chose to become a St. Petersburg resident after competing in the 2003 Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, his first racing season with the Champ Car season. That year, he earned the Rookie-of-the-Year title. Bourdais has won the Bridgestone Passion for Excellence Award in three of his four racing seasons, and won the Champ Car title for the third consecutive year last season (2004, 2005, 2006), leading the series with seven race victories.
