Blundell Honored As Autosport Magazine's British Driver Of The Year

CART Online (December 8) -- PacWest Racing Group driver Mark Blundell, a three-time CART winner in 1997, was honored in England this past weekend as Autosport Magazine's British Competition Driver of the Year at the 16th annual Autosport Awards in London.

Blundell won at Portland, Toronto and California Speedway to help Mercedes-Benz win nine races and its first CART Manufacturer's Championship.

"Mark really came on strong the second half of the season, and we couldn't have won the title without the points that he earned," Said Hal Whiteford, vice president, operations, for Mercedes-Benz of North America.

Recognized as one of Great Britain's top drivers, Blundell is originally from Barnet, Hertfordshire, England, and lives in Paradise Valley, Arizona in the United States.
