CORBY, England (September 22, 2001) -- Arciero-Blair Racing with driver Max Wilson competed in round 17 of 21 events in the Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) race today at the newly constructed Rockingham Motor Speedway. Wilson, the FedEx Championship Series driver finished 21st.

For the second consecutive race, rain cancelled practice and regular qualifying. Driver points determined the grid (starting line up). Wilson, driving the Ford-powered Lola, started 24th for the race that ran 140 laps i nstead of 210 laps or from 500 to 400 kilometers due to the threat of inclement weather or darkness. Wilson had an uneventful race, competing on the new oval in the Arciero-Blair Racing Driving 101 entry.

Championship Auto Racing Teams also donated $100 for every lap leader from today's inaugural Rockingham 500 to the charity fund designated by recently injured two-time FedEx Series champion Alex Zanardi. A $100 donation will be sent on behalf of every driver who leads a lap in the 210-lap event and the collective donation of $21,000 is earmarked for the World Association To Aid Children. The fund was designated by the Zanardi family for donations in lieu of flowers for the Champ Car star who lost both legs in a tragic race accident last week in Germany.

The FedEx Championship Series returns to the United States with four events remaining. The Arciero-Blair team will next compete on October 7 on the temporary street course in Houston. This event will air on ESPN Television Network at 2:00 p.m. EDT, live. Check local listings.
