Sebastien Bourdais and Jay Penske signed a contract today that will keep the talented Frenchman in the cockpit for Dragon Racing. No word on the team’s other driver, Katherine Legge, at this time.

"With the stability of the staff, the sponsors and the experience that we amassed this year, I am very confident that we can achieve great results next season," said Bourdais on his multi-year contract.

Dragon Racing started the 2012 season with Lotus power and all the struggles to get up to speed. The issues continued to the point that when Penske was able to secure Chevrolet engines, or should we say a single engine, the team went down to a single entry. That caused Penske to change their plans to finish out the season. Bourdais became the racer that took on the road and street circuits while Legge ran the ovals.

The change came just prior to the Indianapolis 500 with both drivers.

Bourdais was at home with the Chevy power, and handed the team their highest finish at Mid-Ohio. While he just missed the podium, the Frenchman and former CART four-time consecutive champion was disappointed that he missed the podium, but the team was happy!

"It's a privilege to have Seb once again piloting the No. 7 Dragon Racing entry," said Penske. "2012 was a challenge for us on so many levels, but toward the end of last season we demonstrated that with the right equipment and strategy, Dragon is a force to be reckoned with. The best is yet to come."

Last year, he was able to take on other challenges when not committed to an IZOD IndyCar race. He recently worked with the Triple Eight Race Engineering Holden Commodore TeamVodafone in Australia where Bourdais and Jamie Whincup earned the Gold Coast 600 victory.
