Power Again on Top at Barber Motorsports Park

Quickest here in pre-season testing, and winner of the first two races this season, Penske Racing's Will Power continued to pace the field Friday at Barber Motorsports Park in preparation for Sunday's Indy Grand Prix of Alabama, but 15 other IZOD IndyCar Series drivers are within a second of Power's best time around the scenic, 2.3-mile road circuit on the east side of Birmingham, AL.

Andretti Autosport's Tony Kanaan was second quickest on the day, just over a tenth of a second behind Power, followed by Helio Castroneves, Scott Dixon and Marco Andretti. Takuma Sato is quickest of the five rookies in the field, sixth overall today in his KV Racing Technology Honda-Dallara. Activities continue here on Saturday with Firestone "Fast Six" knockout qualifying. Sunday's 90-lap race starts at 3 p.m. EDT with live television coverage on Versus.

Will Power (#12 Penske Racing Honda) quickest in practice: "The track got quicker and quicker as more rubber was laid down and by the end of today, it was just about as quick as when we tested here last month. Every qualifying session in this series is tough, and tomorrow will be no different, there are 12-15 cars that can win here this weekend. We'll be ready, but it should be an exciting day."
