Alex Tagliani on the Indy Grand Prix of Alabama
"Even though I didn't test at Barber I've gotten an opportunity to drive the track in the Holmatro Safety Truck and also to do a significant amount of simulator running on our Virtual GT at the shop. It certainly doesn't replace running at the track, but it has given me a good idea of the layout. I've been talking with drivers who have been on the track and listening very closely to what they have to say about the turns, blind corners and apex's and the difficulties they have had on this circuit. Interestingly, when I was in Long Beach, I had a conversation with Patrick Dempsey about Barber as he has driven there a few times in the Grand Am series. So he gave me his perspective on the track and the different nuances which I think is helpful for me to hear his feedback on the track. Now the FAZZT team will have to get down to business when we get to Barber and go through the steps of learning the track through driving it and putting our data to the test. So it will start with the engineers and what they are saying and they will give me their data. Then we will walk the track and then the last step is actually driving on the track. In my head I will be hearing everyone's comments and processing them as I drive. The FAZZT team will have to make our own experience at Barber and build our own knowledge on the car. The biggest challenge is that we will have to be fast in our information download and any set-up changes we make to the car. It will be challenging, but I feel confident in the team that we are all prepared for that and we will have a good weekend."
