Ryan Briscoe has made one appearance at Milwaukee Mile. In 2006 he started 17th and was credited with an 18th place finish after encountering handling issues on lap 13. Briscoe has earned two top-ten finishes this season and after 5 races his average finishing position is 16.2. Briscoe's Team Penske teammate Helio Castroneves has yet to finish outside the top ten with an average finishing position of 4.4.

When Ana Beatriz hit the wall during qualifying one of her crew members mentioned that it was the first time that car had ever made contact with the wall. Beatriz is driving the car last used by 2007 Indy Lights Champion Alex Lloyd. The car made its debut with Lloyd at the controls at the Indy open test last year. Beatriz was not injured and has been cleared to drive.

Thirty years ago this month, Rick Mears earned his first IndyCar Series victory at the Milwaukee Mile. To commemorate the June 18, 1978 victory, Mears recounted his career in an interview conducted on a stage behind the main grandstand. Twenty-seven cars are entered in the ABC Supply/A.J. Foyt Indy 225 this weekend. The last time 27 cars started at Milwaukee was in 1997.

Tony Kanaan will be looking for his third consecutive victory at the Milwaukee Mile, a feat accomplished by Tom Sneva (1982-84).

Brian Stewart will miss his first race in eight years when he heads to Old Oaks Country Club to caddy for Canadian golfer Dan Payton during U.S. Open Sectional qualifying. Stewart last missed an entire race weekend in 2000 at Portland while attending his daughter's wedding. Stewart was at Milwaukee today for practice and qualifying.

Dillon Battistini was unable to start his engine when it was his turn to qualify. He will start from the rear of the field on Sunday. "What happened today is out of my control," he said. "We just have to make the most of it. I am expecting a few caution periods tomorrow; hopefully I'll be able to pick off a few cars on the restarts."
