Tomas Scheckter had a little trouble finding the race circuit this afternoon. Unaccustomed to his new dash, Tomas said he was checking it out as he was leaving the pits. He looked up to find himself on the motorcycle track inside Turn one. He recovered nicely and the track stayed green.
In a deal that was announced today, Scheckter will attempt to make his eighth consecutive start in the Indianapolis 500 driving the No. 19 MONA-VIE entry for Dale Coyne Racing.
The last day of full practice was cut short by thirty minutes for "track maintenance." Loose bricks on the on the famed Yard of Bricks on the front straightaway were the culprits. Repairs were expected to be made in time to resume practice Saturday morning at 10:15. At 6:45 p.m. track maintenance crews were working on the problem with a 10-by-10-foot canopy covering the offending area.
