Long Beach

MARCO ANDRETTI, #26 TEAM VENOM ENERGY DRINK CAR

Will start 14th on Sunday

"The Venom car was good today and I'm confident that it had a lot more potential. I was on pace for a lap that would have locked up P6 when I brushed the wall and bent the suspension. I owe all the guys an apology because the car was capable of the Firestone Fast Six. Turn one is going to be crazy tomorrow so if we get through there we can put our heads down and go to work."

MIKE CONWAY, #27 TEAM WINDOW WORLD CARES CAR

Qualified third for the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach

"I feel good about today - a lot better than I did about an hour before qualifying. It's been a difficult couple of days, but we just kept working at it. The team did a great job on the change we made coming into qualifying. It really suited the (Firestone) 'red' tires. 'Well done' to the guys and a great job by Ryan (Hunter-Reay), as well. We're a little bit behind him, but it's a long day tomorrow so we'll just chip away overnight and make sure we work on the race car for tomorrow."

RYAN HUNTER-REAY, #28 TEAM DHL/SUN DROP CITRUS SODA CAR

Qualified second for the second-consecutive year at Long Beach; missed pole by .08 of a second

"I was up on the lap by a half-a-tenth coming into the last three corners and I knew the target time, which was Will's (Will Power's) - which was only a tenth quicker. I had the speed, gained a little bit more through (turn) nine and then I came into (turn) 10 and the car just broke loose. It's my fault; I carried in the speed. But, hey, you've got to go for it at that point, right?

"I really wanted that pole. With Penske and Ganassi as strong as they are, when you get a chance to hit them in the face a couple times - metaphorically-speaking, obviously - on the track, you really have an opportunity there. The DHL/Sun Drop car was really good today. We could have had pole today."

I really wanted that pole.

(ON MISSING THE POLE BY EIGHT ONE-HUNDREDTHS OF A SECOND) "Somehow that stuff just keeps falling to Will's side. I need to learn what kind of cereal he is eating or something."

DANICA PATRICK, #7 TEAM GoDaddy.com CAR

Will start 20th on Sunday

"Obviously I'd like to be starting closer to the front tomorrow but it just didn't work out for us today. The frustrating part is that the GoDaddy.com car is better than our starting position shows. Track position and strategy is going to be important during tomorrow's race and we'll do our best to make our way up through the field."
