The team will re-brand itself as "Racing for Joanne's House."

Sanderson, a lifelong resident of Durham Region finished in the top five of the Gold Cup class in 2012. He sees the combination of racing and Joanne's House as an exciting opportunity to showcase his passion for racing and helping a worthy cause that is close to home.

"Joanne's House provides shelter and support for Durham youth that need a place to stay," said Sanderson. "Every day a young person knocks on their door. We are intent on raising awareness to a need in our area.

Everyone we have talked to has shown enthusiasm and support for our efforts and the whole team is excited about the upcoming season."

The Northwest Atlantic Motorsports team will host representatives of Joanne's House at the Castrol Victoria Day Speedfest May 17-19 and the Mobil 1 Presents Grand Prix of Mosport July 19-21. Both races take place at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.

They have also reserved two spots on the race team's pit crew for Joanne's House alumni on those weekends, providing the young adults a chance of a lifetime opportunity to experience working for a race team.

The Racing for Joanne's House Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge race car and team members will also focus on community involvement. Team members will be present at Jack Astors in Whitby, Ontario on June 4 for their annual Bartending Contest, this year in support of Joanne's House. Future events the team will attend are in the planning stages.

"We are thrilled that Tim Sanderson has chosen to race for Joanne's House," said Mary Dunlop, Executive Director of Joanne's House.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness of youth homelessness in the Durham Region and the prospect of some of our youth going to the track is awesome. We are grateful to Northwest Atlantic Motorsports for partnering with Joanne's House."
