Muscle Milk Team CytoSport puts GT3 Cup car through its paces

GT3 Car on track at Sebring Sebring, FL (February 9, 2011) - Muscle Milk Team CytoSport and driver Mark Bullitt put the first miles on their Porsche GT3 Cup car Monday and Tuesday at Sebring International Raceway during the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama Winter Test.

After taking possession of the brand new Porsche only last week - with just enough time to dress it up in its Muscle Milk livery - the team couldn't have asked for a better first outing as the Porsche completed over 450 trouble free miles.

Assisted by his coach and fellow Muscle Milk driver, Klaus Graf, Bullitt soaked up as much experience as possible all while maintaining a position in the top-ten in the majority of the eight on-track sessions that took place over the two-day test.

Although the German has a good amount of racing experience, the test's primary focus was getting Bullitt comfortable in what was a completely new racing environment for him.

The driver who will be fielding the #6 Muscle Milk car in the Platinum class of the GT3 Cup Challenge used the first few sessions to acclimate himself with such things as the handling and braking of the car.

With Graf also doing some laps aboard the Porsche 911, he and Bullitt were able to compare notes, which in turn helped Bullitt improve as the sessions went by. Armed with new knowledge of his surroundings, Bullitt continued his progression on day two and jumped up on the timing sheets to as high as third overall at one point.

With this first test in the books, the team is looking forward to getting back on track in the coming weeks. Muscle Milk Team CytoSport and its GT3 Cup car are scheduled to test at the end of February ahead of next month's season opening races at Sebring International Raceway. The 2011 IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama season gets underway March 17.

"I was amazed that the Muscle Milk Porsche GT3 Cup car was that fast out of the box. We received the car last week and were only able to work a few hours on it before taking it on track on Monday and right away we had competitive times and that was with the basic setup. We had no issues on the car, which I guess is what you expect from Porsche.

"Fortunately I'm very familiar with the Sebring track, so it was more a question of working on me and taking it one step at a time before starting to really work on the setup. The first day there was a lot of learning, figuring out the braking and the car and already, on the second day it was better.

"It's a very competitive series and the lap times were pretty close throughout the test so that makes it very interesting. I think it's going to be a fun series to race in.

"Working with the Muscle Milk team has just been a great experience, it's more than I expected. I'm surrounded by an excellent group of people to help me. I'm looking forward to the upcoming test days and the races."

Klaud Graf Headshot Klaus Graf - driver coach

"Mark did an excellent job for his first time in the GT3 Cup car. There's a lot for him to learn in a short amount of time. We weren't looking for him to set the fastest lap times of the day, we really wanted him to get comfortable and focus on learning as much as possible and that's what he did. He progressed really, really well and was consistently doing better and better every session and with a close, competitive field he's right there with the rest of them after not even a handful of hours in the car.

"The car itself was pretty impressive just by the fact that it was brand new and we didn't have any problems with it. We've said it many times in the past but it's a testament to Porsche to see how well these cars perform. I'm enjoying coaching Mark and it will be fun to watch him race in the GT3 Cup Challenge this year."
