Super Trucks at the Mid-America Trucking Show
LOUISVILLE, KY (March 18, 2004) After a successful debut at last year's Tonka Super Truck Celebrity Challenge demonstration races, the Super Truck Racing Association of North America (STRANA) Super Trucks are ready to rumble again in 2004. But first, fans of the Super Trucks will have the opportunity to see them up-close at this year's Mid-America Trucking Show March 25-27 at the Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center in Louisville.
Before starting preparations for the 2004 Tonka Super Truck Racing Series, the STRANA Super Trucks will appear at the Mid-America Trucking Show with two of the racing series partners - Haldex and BorgWarner Turbo Systems.
Haldex is an innovator in vehicle technology and a global supplier of proprietary products for trucks, cars and industrial vehicles. They are active in four main business areas; braking and suspension control systems and components for commercial vehicles; hydraulic power systems; advanced spring wire products; and controllable all wheel drive systems. Haldex is an exclusive supplier for STRANA - providing the air-operated disc brake systems for the Super Trucks.
"We have had a great experience working with STRANA, and we are excited to be part of the effort to bring Super Truck racing to North America," said Haldex Chief Operating Officer Chuck Kleinhagen. "STRANA fans are great. We look forward to seeing them at the Haldex booth at the show."
Based in Asheville, North Carolina, BorgWarner Turbo Systems is a leader and full-service supplier of turbocharger systems for enhanced engine performance, reduced exhaust emissions and improved fuel economy. BorgWarner Turbo Systems is a division of the globally active automotive supplier BorgWarner, Inc. and they are developing racing turbos to supply to the Tonka Super Truck Racing Series.
"We witnessed the power and excitement of Super Truck racing at the STRANA demonstration races last year," said BorgWarner Turbo Systems Director of North
American Aftermarket, Jack Lorimer. "We are thrilled to be working with the Super Trucks, and to have the STRANA fans stop by the booth at the trucking show will be great."
The STRANA Super Trucks will be on display at the Haldex Booth #5510 and the BorgWarner Booth #595 at the Mid-America Trucking Show.
Other sponsors of the Tonka Super Truck Racing Series include Alcoa, ArvinMeritor, ZF Group NAO, Fluidyne High Performance, Stack, Spal, Shields, K&N, ATL, Racing Radios, TruckSkin, Stand-21, Detroit Locker and Pittsburgh Power.
Based in suburban Columbus, Ohio, STRANA is the governing body for class-8 super truck racing in North America. Its mission is to promote super truck racing and the trucking and transportation industry.
