Michael Marsal looks to drive his No. 97 Turner Motorsport BMW M3 to the podium at the fast and familiar circuit.
Elkhart Lake, Wis. – Riding momentum from an excellent drive at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Michael Marsal heads to Road America for Round 9 of the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge this weekend.
Along with his co-driver, Tom Kimber-Smith, he looks to drive his No. 97 Turner Motorsport BMW M3 to the podium at the fast and familiar circuit.
The Wisconsin road course is a favorite for Marsal, who had his first racecar driving experience at the track when he drove a Skip Barber car there.
I always look forward to Road America,
In the previous round of competition around the newly reconfigured road course of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Marsal scored his best result since the season opener at Daytona. He now carries that hard-earned positive momentum to the classic 4-mile, 14-turn road course of Road America to compete in the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase.
In addition to the momentum from his previous result, Marsal also returns to the track with plenty of confidence and familiarity - having made his way to the Road America podium twice at the track. In 2012, Marsal combined with Eric Lux and Tony Burgess in American Le Mans Series competition to take home a third place finish and he returned to the podium in last year’s GRAND-AM Rolex Series race while driving for Turner Motorsport.
“I always look forward to Road America,” said Marsal. “It’s just a really fun track to drive and it has been pretty good to me in the past. It was so great to be on the podium here last year, so hopefully we can repeat that this weekend in Continental Tire. Indy was great for us and I think we really learned a lot about the car and made some good improvements. Everyone at Turner has been working hard all season long, so we are ready for this weekend!”
Marsal will participate in two practices on Friday ahead of qualifications at 3:35 PM (ET). The 2.5-hour race will go green Saturday at 12:15 PM (ET).
