Bowmanville, Ontario (11 July 2014) - As he prepares to debut at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on Saturday, Kyle Gimple is carrying the high of taking his first win of the season in the previous IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge event held at Watkins Glen International.

He and Compass360 Racing co-driver Ryan Eversley took the No. 75 Honda Civic Si Cure NF with Jack/ CTF/ HPD to victory lane two weeks ago and look to carry that momentum into this weekend’s Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix Presented by Hawk Performance.

Compass360 Racing is based in nearby Toronto, so another big result for Gimple would also be huge for the team and its home town fans.

Gimple participated in a promoter test day on Wednesday at the high speed 2.459-mile natural road course as he got acclimated to the circuit in the No. 75 Honda Civic. He spent plenty of time behind the wheel at the track that features significant elevation changes and requires high commitment from both car and driver alike.

The Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge saw official practice on Thursday with Gimple feeling more and more confident each time out. That confidence, and continued hard work from the Compass360 Racing squad, saw Gimple net a spot on the second row for Saturday’s race with a fast lap time of 1:32.960-seconds.

“The car was really good,” said Gimple. “We made a change this morning in practice, and it really improved the handling of the car. It was a lot more stable in the high speed sections and it showed with our times as well. I’m excited to be starting on the second row again, and we’ll just see how it goes in the race tomorrow.”

The Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix Presented by Hawk Performance is set to go green on Saturday, July 12th at 1:15 PM (ET) and will be video streamed live on IMSA.com.
