Al Carter looking to make Aston Martin Racing history at Road America
Carter comes off a solid finish at the Brickyard with even higher hopes for Road America.

Only four races are left in the 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Challenge Championship. Al Carter and his TRG-Aston Martin Racing team had a decent season so far and finished 7th at the last race in Indianapolis.
On paper the N. 007 CarryOn.com/B+ Foundation/Jetset Magazine/Eagle Tech Systems /Sideskinz/Adobe Road Winery/Royal Purple/Passtime Aston Martin V12 Vantage should be competitive at Road America and the TRG-AMR team, led by team owner Kevin Buckler, is now ready to collect the fruits of their hard work and make Aston Martin Racing history.
In the early 1950's, sports car races were being run on the streets in and around Elkhart Lake. The first official race at Road America was held on September 10, 1955. At 4.048 miles in length, with 14 turns, the track is virtually the same today as it was when it was first laid out.
The first time an Aston Martin raced at Road America was in 1956 when American Rob Carveth and John Barbeson scored the pole position in the DM class for the Six Hours of Road America with their Aston Martin DB3S. They finished 15th in the race. The best result so far registered by an Aston Martin race car at Road America is a 5th place overall in the 1959 500 mile race when American racers Paul O’Shea and George Constantine qualified and finished 5th behind the wheel of their Aston Martin DBR2.
Of course, almost 60 years after the track opened, TRG-Aston Martin Racing drivers Al Carter and James Davison are coming to Road America with the aim of scoring their first podium finish of the season with their Aston Martin V12 Vantage. This would be the best ever result for an Aston Martin at Road America and in the series.
Al Carter will also compete this weekend with the No. 7 Rebel Rock Racing /CarryOn.com/B+ Foundation/Eagle Tech Systems/Sideskinz/Stinkerz Porsche 997 in round 9 of the 2014 Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge where he will try, with Rebel Rock Racing co-driver Brett Sandberg, to score another podium finish on the very fast Road America road course.
AL CARTER’S ROAD AMERICA SCHEDULE:
The TUDOR Championship practice sessions for the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at the Road America are scheduled for Friday, August 8 at 4:40 p.m. and on Saturday, August 9 at 9:15 a.m. and at 3:10 p.m. ET. GTD Qualifying (LIVE at IMSA.COM) is set for Saturday at 4:20 p.m. ET. Following a warm-up session at 9:05 a.m. ET, the race will start on Sunday, August 10, at 1:15 p.m. EDT.
FOX Sports 1 will air the race on Sunday, August 10 at 6:30 p.m. EDT.
Following a promoter test day on Thursday, Two CTSCC practice sessions are scheduled on Friday, August 8 at 8:40 a.m. and 11:50 a.m. ET. ST qualifying is set for Friday at 3:05 p.m. ET and GS Qualifying set for 3:35 p.m. The Continental Tire Road Race Showcase race is set for Saturday, August 9 at 12:15 p.m. ET. The race will be broadcast live at Imsa.com and on Sunday, August 17 at noon EDT on Fox Sports 1.
