Podlesni Set For Sports Car Debut in IMSA Lites Opener at Road Atlanta

Palmetto, Fla. (May 6, 2006) -- Robert Podlesni, of Thousand Oaks, Calif., has been invited to contest the opening round of the exciting new IMSA Lites Championship which takes place next weekend at the challenging Road Atlanta road course in Braselton, Ga.

Podlesni, 18, is in just his second year of racing but has quickly made his mark in the open-wheel ranks. He currently holds a commanding lead in the Pacific F2000 Championship following a series of four consecutive victories in Fullerton, Calif.-based Dave Freitas Racing's #84 Van Diemen RF03, and is excited about the prospect of driving a sports car for the first time and gaining valuable additional experience as he seeks to work his way up the auto racing ladder.

"This is a great opportunity to compete against new drivers and in a completely different kind of race car," says Podlesni, who will make his closed-wheel debut at the helm of the attractive Elan DP04 chassis powered by a 1000cc Suzuki GSXR motorcycle engine. The car will be entered by multiple Formula Ford 2000 championship-winning team, Cape Motorsports, with assistance from Podlesni's regular West Coast F2000 team, DFR.

"Working with a new team and in a brand-new car will provide another challenge for me," Podlesni continues, "but that is what racing is all about, so I'm really excited. You never know what it might lead to in the future. I'm really grateful to Cape Motorsports, DFR, Suzuki and everyone else who helped put this deal together, and I'm going to do the best job I possibly can."

Podlesni will travel to Florida immediately for a shakedown test in the car at the Group Four Park facility in Palmetto, and then will journey with the team directly to Georgia for the race weekend.
