IMSA LITES RACERS HEAD TO CANADA FOR ROUNDS SEVEN AND EIGHT
BRASELTON, Ga. August 19 -- The next stop for IMSA Lites presented by Hankook teams will be Mosport International Raceway where some of the racers have experience and others will make their first trip to the 2.5-mile, 10-turn road course in Bowmanville, Ontario.
Joel Feinberg finished fourth at Mosport last year. He hopes to use that experience to score his second consecutive victory in the IMSA Lites One category. Feinberg not only races in the IMSA Lites series, but he also pilots a Dodge Viper in the American LeMans Series.
"I would do five races if I could," Feinberg said. "It's just so much fun for me. The adrenaline gets me going and keeps me going."
Eric Vassian has a similar story in the Lites Two category. The West Racing driver scored his first victory of the season in round six at Lime Rock Park and hopes to continue that success, using his experience from last year when he raced in the Lites One class, finishing eight in both races.
Tom Drewer, the point leader in Lites Two, has never raced at Mosport, but had the chance to be a pace car passenger at the Vintage Automobile Racing Association of Canada's event a few months ago.
"Mosport is typical from what I'm coming to expect from North American circuits where fast sweepers and seriously high top speeds are mandatory," Drewer said. "The long, high-speed sweepers and flowing nature really should suit the L2s."
In Lites Three KC Racing teammates Kelly Toombs and Chris Funk are again top picks. Funk leads the points going into round seven.
Round seven of the IMSA Lites presented by Hankook series will take place Saturday, August 23 at 12:50 p.m. The green flag will fall on round eight at 9:15 a.m. Sunday, August 24.
