ALTON, Va. (December 21, 2006) -- Synergy Racing will enter its rookie season in the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge presented by Michelin with an impressive driver line-up. The team announced a trio of racers for 2007 including Ben McCrackin and father-son duo Mark and Jordan Sandridge.
McCrackin is an experienced road racer with a variety of experience. After beginning in open-wheel racing, the Corpus Christi, Texas, resident moved into sports cars in 2005. Last season, McCrackin competed in the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge, taking second at Laguna Seca and finishing fourth in the 996 championship. He opened up 2006 by competing in his first-ever Rolex 24 At Daytona with Synergy Racing, and he will do so again in 2007 with Team Seattle and its Synergy Racing Porsche.
Mark and Jordan Sandridge also bring a wealth of road racing experience to the team. The father and son from Westfield Center, Ohio, previously competed together in the Grand-Am Cup Series, as well as against each other in SCCA events where Mark won back-to-back national championships in Touring 2. While both drivers have experience in the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge, 2007 will mark their first full season in the series.
"We're thrilled with the driver line-up on tap for our first season in the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge," said Cole Scrogham, team co-owner. "We're happy to have Ben with us for the season after his great performance in the Rolex 24. And everyone in the paddock knows how Synergy Racing is a big family, so it's great to have a talented father-and-son pairing like Mark and Jordan with the team."
The 2007 IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge will include seven races throughout the U.S. in conjunction with the American Le Mans Series and Formula One.
Synergy Racing's IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge program will be based at its new west coast headquarters at Miller Motorsports Park near Salt Lake City, Utah. The team announced the expansion earlier this year, which will open in Spring 2007. Synergy Racing also maintains east coast headquarters at Virginia International Raceway.
