CHAMPIONSHIPS ON THE MINDS OF IMSA CHALLENGE RACERS AT PETIT LEMANS

BRASELTON, Ga. September 30 -- Porsche racers are headed to Road Atlanta for two of the four remaining rounds of the IMSA Challenge presented by Michelin series. Dino Steiner, Wehingen, Germany, and Bob Faieta, Tujunga, Calif. are tied for the points lead in the Platinum Cup while Tony Rivera, Houston, Texas, could wrap up the Gold Cup championship if things keep going his way.

Rivera has dominated the Gold Cup class, winning every race this season. Melanie Snow, Pleasant Grove, Utah, is second in points, trailing Rivera by 46 points.

Steiner pulled out a lead in the first half of the season, but it is Faieta who has had the momentum in the second half. Faieta won both rounds at Mosport International Raceway in August.

"The points are going to get tight again just like last year," Faieta said. "I'm looking forward to Road Atlanta, it's a technical, fast track and that's my kind of track."

Over 30 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars will compete as part of the American LeMans Series 11th Annual Petit LeMans at Road Atlanta October 1-3. Round 11 will take place Thursday, October 2 at 5:20 p.m. The green flag will fall on round 12 at 5:45 p.m. Friday, October 3.
