IMSA CHALLENGE BY MICHELIN SEBRING PREVIEW
SEBRING, Fla. March 10 -- The IMSA Challenge by Michelin will kick off its fourth season of competition at the Mobil1 Twelve Hours of Sebring March 13.
Among the 34 competitors entered to take the green flag is defending champion Bob Faieta, who returns in 2008 with CareLevel Racing.
"This year the level of competition will be strong," Faieta said. "It will be as difficult as last year, if not more difficult to win."
Faieta is looking forward to racing at Sebring International Raceway for the second time in his career. He hopes this year he is able to trade in the rain tires he had to use last year for Michelin slicks.
"Last year I got off to a rocky start," he said. "Now I'm more comfortable in the rain."
With any luck at all round one of 2008 will be under sunnier skies when the two IMSA Challenge classes take the green flag.
"This year we will have two classes running at the same time," explains Series Director Mike Simons. "The Platinum Cup is for competitors running the 2008 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car. The Gold Cup is for racers in 2005-2007 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars."

The IMSA Challenge presented by Michelin continues to give top semi-professional and gentlemen drivers from the United States and North America the opportunity to compete with such prestigious organizations as the American Le Mans Series and the Formula One. All of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars have sealed engines and transmissions, providing for close racing where the driver's talents are exemplified.
Rounds one and two of the IMSA Challenge by Michelin will be 30-minute races. The green flag will drop on round one Thursday, March 13 at 4:15 p.m. Round two will take place Friday, March 14 at 1:10 p.m.
