Jackie Ickx and Paul Hawkins drive a Gulf Mirage-Ford M1 to victory in the Paris 1000km sportscar race in France (1967).

October 16
Phil Hill and Jim Hall, driving Chaparral 2Es, finish 1-2 in the Laguna Seca Can-Am race. Only Can-Am victory for Chaparral (1966).

October 17
James Hunt clinches the F1 Driving Championship when he finishes third in the Japanese Grand Prix at Mt. Fuji (1976).

October 18
Bernd Schneider and Klaus Ludwig drive a Mercedes CLK to victory in the FIA GT race at Sebring, Florida, USA (1997).

October 19
Sterling Moss wins the Moroccan Grand Prix, at Casablanca. Final GP victory for Vanwall. Last Moroccan GP. Mike Hawthorn becomes the first Brit to win the Grand Prix driving title. Vanwall clinches the first Grand Prix manufacturers title (1958).

October 20
Ayrton Senna wins the F3 Macau Grand Prix in a Ralt-Toyota (1983).
