July 19 - Lee Petty runs his last NASCAR race, at Watkins Glen, New York, USA (1964).

July 20 - Jo Siffert wins the British GP at Brands Hatch in Rob Walker's Lotus 49B. First F1 win for Siffert and first by a private entrant in 7 years (1968).

- Jackie Ickx starts his Ferrari 312B on pole, sets fast lap, leads every lap, and wins the German GP (1972).

July 22 - Calvin Fish born (1961).

July 23 - Jim Hall of Chaparral fame born (1935).

July 24 - Stan Wattles born (1961).
