Denny Hulme wins the Watkins Glen Can-Am race in a McLaren M8D. The Chaparral 2J "sucker car" debuts with Jackie Stewart at the wheel. The 2J retires after 22 laps with break failure. It is also Dan Gurney's last Can-Am race (1970).
