August 23 - NASCAR racer Kenny Wallace born (1963).

August 24 - Luigi "Gigi" Villoresi, Grand Prix driver both before and after World War II, dies at age 88 (1997).

August 25 - Lucy O'Reilly Schell finishes 12th, driving a Bugatti, in the Baule Grand Prix in France. She is the first, and only, American woman to drive in a Grand Prix, and she would drive in three more (1927).

August 26 - Eric Bernard born (1964).

August 27 - F1 racer Gerhard Berger born (1959).
