It was reported in the Wednesday Indianapolis Star that Nick Sanborn of Colorado Springs, a former Pikes Peak Hillclimb champion and later President of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb Association died Monday after complications from surgery to remove a cancerous brain tumor. Sanborn was 64.

NICHOLAS J. SANBORN

Mr. Sanborn, 64, died Dec. 6, 1999, in Colorado Springs. He was a motorsports consultant and served in the Army for two years.

Mr. Sanborn was born May 18, 1935, in Colorado Springs.

He is survived by a stepson, Shane Smith; two daughters, Lisa Haight and Linda Ruyle; a brother, Frank; two sisters, Rosemary Quinn and Vera Barnes; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 4925 N. Carefree Circle. Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 N Cascade Ave., 471-9900, is handling cremation.
