Goodwood Festival of Speed Winner at this Weekend's Pikes Peak International Hill Climb
Aspen, CO -- Hot off his first place win in England's Goodwood Festival of Speed, in the Ultimate Rally Car Division, local driver Paul Dallenbach will be in Colorado Springs on July 17th, the start of race week for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC), which takes place this weekend, July 21st.
Paul Dallenbach and his winning Dallenbach Racing Team will be returning to PPIHC, where they placed first in 2003 and 2004, and second in 2006, to make another run at the First Place Overall Title. His win at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, motor-racing's equivalent to Wimbledon or Ascot, has cemented his success in the industry and makes him a clear favorite for the 2007 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
This year the Dallenbach Racing Team will also include Richard Meaden, Evo Magazine's Editor-at-Large. Paul will be driving number 98, with teammate Richard Meaden, driving number 88. Sponsors for Dallenbach's car include Goodyear, Sunoco, Wild Oats, Sign Edge and Leary Racing Products & Shock Shop.
Paul Dallenbach is the youngest member of the famous Dallenbach family, including Indy 500 racer Wally Dallenbach Sr. and TNT Announcer Wally Jr., and has been racing professionally for over 20 years, beginning his racing career at age 18. In his first year of professional racing, Paul finished 6th in points and was awarded Rookie of the Year in the VW Cup Series.
Another recent accomplishment of Paul's includes placing 15th out of a field of 72 in the 2007 Rolex 24 at Daytona, a grueling race taking place within 24 consecutive hours that lives up to its name. Next, Paul is headed for Moscow to drive for Porsche in the Trans-Siberian Rally, a 3,852 mile race to Mongolia, among a field of 50 drivers.
Paul also applies his driving expertise to automotive companies for their advertising campaigns and commercials, most notably, Lexus "Gravity", BMW 335 Convertible, Audi "After Dark", and Pontiac. Paul has also appeared in the feature film, "The Watcher" as Keanu Reeves' double.
About the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb:
The 2007 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC), also called the Race for the Clouds, will be held the week of July 16th -- July 21st.
The PPIHC, established in 1916, is a unique auto and motorcycle race of 160 drivers and riders, which combines a tricky gravel course, thin air two miles above sea level, cutting-edge technology, and gutsy drivers who reach for their dreams as they charge toward the sky. It is the second oldest motor sports event in the U.S., only the Indianapolis 500 is older. Last years PPIHC brought in 160 drivers and riders, and 500 volunteers, whose time and energy fueled the event.
