PICCHIO STORMED ASCOLI WITH DOUBLE THREAT

Picchio has just returned to base having taken part in the Italian Hill Climb Championship. The Ascoli hill climb race, after a long stand-by period, came back to be valid for the national Championship.

Local fans and followers were given the chance of seeing the cars of a local constructor racing on their track. Picchio went to Ascoli still in a phase of study and development, but put two cars to the track, the new Honda-powered CN2 Lights, that fought against the best champions in the speciality as part of a field of 230 cars.

Romoli puts his foot down !

Mimmo Romoli was not in the top part of the leader board, but Picchio knew his potential and, in the end, he did the job they expected he had to do. He gave some useful data for making a "cross reference". After only six races he is starting to push into the field of name drivers.

Renzo finished 10th overall (9th after the winner was disqualified) He showed an intelligent progression during the weekend, and Picchio are satisfied since they see the CN2 car faster race after race. The 9th place finish was within four seconds of a podium place.

Renzo is knocking on the door!

Take in consideration that usually the 3-4 pilots in the first places are the quickest of the group and, taking into account their value and what they spend on the car (they change a tyre set every round, it means that 4 tyres sometimes don't last more than 5km - worse than Formula One!), Picchio can't see them as our "real competitor" (not so far..).

Picchio's aim for this year is to be in the group of the "normal" pilots with "normal" team budget; and race after race going faster and gaining positions in this group. The engineering team are updating more things on the car to lower the weight and to improve the aerodynamics, and Renzo is developing more sympathy with the car.
