The success story of the Callaway Competition customer team House of Portier/TAM Engineering in the UAE-GT championship continues. In the fourth race of the new championship at the Dubai Autodromo, Karim Al-Azhari scored his fourth consecutive victory in the Corvette Z06.R GT3 developed and built by Callaway Competition in Germany. Despite stronger competition due to some new additions in the championship, Al-Azhari started from Pole-Position for the fourth time in a row and continued his 100% story of success.
After a one-month break the UAE-GT championship started at Dubai in the second half of the season. For the first race in 2010, new competitors joined the series. A new Ginetta G50Z and two Porsche Cup S in the hands of Khaleji and championship newcomers Muhlner Motorsport gave the House of Portier/TAM-Corvette strong competition. But championship leader Karim Al-Azhari wasn't too impressed and took pole-position during qualifying practise just as in the four previous races.
By the time the flag dropped, on an admittedly uneventful race, it was Al Azhari in the immaculately, TAM Auto Engineering, prepared Callaway-Corvette Z06.R GT3 who again took top honours for fourth time in a row this season. Al-Azhari took victory in front of the Muhlner-Porsche, which got disqualified later on. With his fourth consecutive victory, Al-Azhari grabbed the first victory of the year for a Callaway built Corvette Z06.R GT3 and extended his championship lead, as his closest contender, the Khaleji-Porsche failed to finish.
Al Azhari was clearly satisfied with the result: "The Total UAE GT Championship gets stronger and stronger every time with five or six really strong entries battling in the GTA-class and this is great for the sport. Despite this House of Portier and TAM Auto Engineering again gave me a fantastic car and winning for them is a pleasure, as it is the result of hard work and team work."
