PWC and Blancpain GT to announce major collaboration

A major partnership between the Blancpain GT Series and Pirelli World Challenge is set to be announced today to establish a joint venture that will see European and US GT teams race on both sides of the Atlantic.

As revealed by Motorsport.com this week, a set of common regulations is set to be rubber stamped to enable technical parity. Both series already use Pirelli tires.

Motorsport.com understands that the two series will also join in confirming basis for a Balance of Performance.

Sources close to both parties have told Motorsport.com that the three best placed PWC entries in 2015 will be invited to race at the Baku World Challenge, which is the final Blancpain GT Sprint Series race of 2015.

For 2016 plans are being formulated to allow European-based teams to race in the PWC.

Motorsport.com has also learned that the Blancpain GT Series could hold a race during a Pirelli World Challenge round.

An exchange working the other way might also be implemented, whereby a European round of the PWC could be organised as part of a Blancpain GT Series event.
