Michela Cerruti one step short of the victory at Vallelunga

Michela Cerruti was close to the victory at Vallelunga in the sixth round of the Italian GT Championship.

On Saturday, during the first session of qualifying, the young driver from Milan stopped the stopwatch on the time of 1'48.068, taking the number 101 F430 GT CUP Ferrari on the eleventh position of the starting grid.

In race one, held on a humid tarmac, Michela tried first of all not to make any mistakes; during the second stint her crew-mate Mario Ferraris crossed the finish line ninth under the chequered flag.

Race two saw Cerruti getting on track in second position and she was determined to aim to the victory: after a study phase she attacked Fratti, the leader of the race, but this led to an unfortunate contact between the two. Michela managed to continue the race anyway but a technical problem slowed her down in the final stages forcing the Italian driver to finish the race in ninth position.

Michela Cerruti:
"In race two it seemed to me several times to live again the race we run here in May; in that occasion I did not push hard and that left me a bit of regret. This time I tried to have a go: unfortunately things did not go well but I am satisfied anyway about an attempt that shows my growth anyway".

The Italian GT Championship will be back on track next 24 October at Monza for the seventh and last round of the season.
