VALLELUNGA: WEEKEND TO BE FORGOTTEN FOR PAOLO RUBERTI IN THE SECOND ROUND OF THE ITALIAN GT CHAMPIONSHIP

Unlucky exit for Paolo Ruberti and his team mate Fabrizio del Monte at the wheel of the Porsche 997-RSR of team Autorlando-Sport in the second round of the Italian GT Championship at Vallelunga (Rome).

On Saturday, during the first round of qualifying, the driver from Verona could not complete the session due to a misunderstanding with an opponent that cost him a violent off track exit, luckily without physical consequences. The lap time of 1'38.220 granted him the thirteenth place on the grid anyway.

The recovery awaited in race one was unfortunately slowed down by a problem to the engine that, as laps passed by, penalized more and more Ruberti's rhythm and during the twenty-second lap, after the driver change, the retirement became unavoidable not to risk to damage completely the engine.

This precaution turned out to be in vane in race two, that last twelve laps only. The definitive engine failure in the first stint forced Del Monte to park the number 1 Porsche on the grass at the end of a difficult weekend.

Paolo Ruberti:
"Vallelunga's weekend turned out to be one of the worst in the last years for me and it is difficult to find something positive to talk about. I believe that this was just a single episode and that we will be soon back on the levels of competitiveness shown at Misano".

The next round of the Italian GT Championship is scheduled for 6 June at Magione (Perugia).
