Down to the south for the battle!

After the magnificent fourth round of the GT4 European Cup, together with the Dutch GT4, at the German Nurburgring, the teams and drivers are now heading towards the south of Portugal. The magnificent Portimao venue is the host of the penultimate round of the series on the 17th and 18th of September. Paul Meijer, Michael Mallock and Matt Nicoll- Jones will continue their fight for the 2010 championship on Portuguese ground, before Magny-Cours, mid October, will decide the outcome of the 2010 edition of the GT4 European Cup.

For the second time in the GT4 history, the Portimao track will host a round of the GT4 European Cup and last year, both BMW and Nissan won a race in the mountains of the Algarve. The BMW M3 meanwhile got an upgrade, which proved to be very in efficient, with BMW winning the German round of the Dutch GT4 series.

The main focus for this penultimate meeting of the year will of course be on the battle for the championship. If ever Paul Meijer scores two points more than Michael Mallock and Matt Nicoll-Jones, the Dutch youngster will be the next on the GT4 champions list, following on from Eric De Doncker in 2007 and 2008 and Joe Osborne in 2009. But both Michael Mallock and Matt Nicoll-Jones, who won both rounds at the Nurburgring, will defend their chances to the fullest. Meijer's team, Rhesus Racing could also win the team's title in Portugal.

Another interesting aspect of this round is the presence of local teams and drivers. Prime Promotion enters a Porsche Cayman for Pedro Marreiros, while Velosomotorsport will come to Portimao with another Ginetta G50. Develop Real Team is also new to the series, but Jiri Gottwald's and Eduard Leganov's Ginetta comess all the way from the Czech Republic.

We are also very pleased to welcome again several entries in the Supersport Category, which is also a very important parameter in the battle between Arhanasios Ladas and Gianni Giudici Ladas for the 2010 crown.

Both GT4 European Cup races will be held on Saturday and the qualifying takes place on Friday night.
