Danny Sullivan Named Grand Marshal for Rolex 24 DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Two-time Rolex 24 At Daytona runner-up and CART champion Danny Sullivan will add another credit to his list of achievements during next year's USRRC Rolex 24 Hour race at Daytona International Speedway. Sullivan will serve as Grand Marshal of the 37th Rolex 24 At Daytona scheduled for Jan. 30-31. As Grand Marshal, Sullivan will address the crowd prior to the start of the race, as well as give the command to start engines. A 13-time veteran of the Rolex 24 At Daytona, Sullivan finished second in 1998 en route to winning the GT1 class. He also finished second in 1986 with fellow open-wheel drivers A.J. Foyt and Arie Luyendyk. "This is a great honor," said the 1988 CART Series champion. "I've started many racing seasons with the Rolex 24 At Daytona, and I look forward to further participating in this great event. "I'm also discussing with a few teams the possibility of driving in the Rolex 24 and duplicate the success enjoyed there last year. Being Grand Marshal presents no complications if I compete in the race because I've never been the starting driver on a team in the Rolex 24." Most noted for his 1985 spin-and-win' victory in the Indianapolis 500, Sullivan has 17 career CART victories.
