Team Modena Lamborghini Set for Silverstone Stage
Silverstone is the place to be for Lamborghini enthusiasts this coming weekend (August 11th / 12th) as not only does the Team Modena Lamborghini Gallardo continue its Avon Tyres British GT Championship campaign, but also scores of the marque's road cars are expected to attend to support their favourite supercar. Sunday's two-hour race will be only the third British GT meeting for the Lamborghini Wycombe run Gallardo, but the car has already shown its pace, setting lap records at each circuit it has visited.
"We're honoured and proud to be the team responsible for bringing the Lamborghini name to the home of British motorsport," says Team Modena Principal Graham Schultz. "We could have anywhere up to around 50 road cars coming along, with more guests expected, and they will be keen to see our Gallardo running ahead of the Ferraris and other cars in the series.
"It is a two-hour race which suits us, and we will have Adam Jones in the car again. Adam likes the Gallardo after his run in it at Snetterton, he has high hopes for the car in the race - and we have told him to push this weekend. Adam will be sharing with Matt Owen and we are hoping for a strong result in what is still really a test season for us."
In a busy weekend for those connected with the team, in the United States Team Modena driver Antonio Garcia will be contesting the Crown Royal 200 race at Watkins Glen with fellow Team Modena regular Christian Fittipaldi. The pair took their Eddie Cheever Racing run Daytona Prototype to fourth place at Montreal last week, and will be aiming for a strong result in Friday night's 200-mile event.
Garcia's absence sees Adam Jones once more taking up British GT driving duties for the team, having driven the car's first competitive race miles at Snetterton in June, bringing the Gallardo storming through the field to be running second at the pit-stops, and setting a new lap record on the way. He will share the car this weekend with Matt Owen, who made his race debut for the team at Brands Hatch last month.
