Team Modena Shake-Down GT3 Lamborghini Gallardo

Team Modena tested their brand-new Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 race-car at Snetterton, Norfolk, yesterday (Wednesday May 23rd) in preparation for their debut race in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship on June 3rd at the circuit. Once typical 'new car' problems had been resolved at the shake-down test, the team were immediately able to demonstrate the pace of the Lamborghini - the first Gallardo to race in the championship.

"The car is brand-new, so we had a few early teething troubles, but after that it ran perfectly," said Team Principal Graham Schultz. "Jos Menten drove it first as he has experience of racing Lamborghinis, and then we had Antonio Garcia do five or six laps, and by then we were looking really quick.

"Matt Owen finished off our running and will be racing the car this season alongside one of our other drivers, and even though he was in a GT car for the first time he was getting quicker lap by lap. We are all very positive for the first race at Snetterton."

The cars will be run from the Lamborghini Wycombe workshops overseen by Team Principal Graham Schultz, with the first car joined by a second later in the season.

"It's an honour and a privilege for us to the be the first official Lamborghini dealer to go racing," says Graham, "We are very excited by this programme, GT3 and the Gallardo are natural fits with what we do at Lamborghini Wycombe, and we will be running the cars from there all year."

The 2007 British GT series is held over eight meetings at the UK's leading circuits. The highly competitive series sees the Team Modena Lamborghini up against cars from famous marques such as Ferrari, Aston Martin and Porsche in the competition for GT3 class honours.
