Damax does the double at Snetterton
British GT racing team Damax returned to the British GT Championship in style at Snetterton last weekend, winning both races in the GT3 class with the Ascari KZ1 racer driven by Aaron Scott and Stuart Turvey.
The meeting was billed as the Ascari Summer Festival so it was fitting that both of the Damax run cars driven by Aaron Scott / Stuart Turvey and Rob Barff / Richard Stanton set the GT3 pace throughout the weekend.
The cars ran perfectly throughout the weekend - a tribute to the hard work and investment made by the Damax team this season. The Scott / Turvey car took the win in race one despite an early collision with the Lotus GT3 car which damaged the rear suspension. It had looked like it would be a one - two for the Damax cars, however Rob Barff suffered a collision with a backmarker which broke the front suspension. In race two it was an Ascari whitewash as the two cars started by Barff and Scott blasted away from their rivals. Barff made the initial running and there was little to separate the two cars, however Scott found a way into the lead as the cars started to lap the slower cars. Scott handed over to Turvey in the lead which Turvey confidently converted into a comfortable victory by over 17 seconds from the 2nd placed Aston Martin. Richard Stanton brought his car home in 3rd place to make it a double podium for Damax.
Driver Aaron Scott: "I am delighted with the result, especially for the team at Damax, Gigawave and Cammack who have put so much into the Ascari programme. I really enjoyed the races and I hope we can do some more in the British Championship this season. I'd also like to thank Avon tyres for their support and I look forward to working with them again in the future."
Team principal Robin Ward: "This is a great result for us at Damax. We have made a big investment with the Ascari and put our reputation on the line so we are delighted with the results this weekend. I would like to run cars in both the British and FIA Championships next season and I think we attracted a lot of interest. All our drivers drove very well this weekend, we had a new addition to the team in Rob Barff, he did a good job and was a pleasure to work with."
