Ryan Hooker (Upminster, Essex) is pleased to announce he has signed with Xero Competition to contest the British GT Championship in 2005. Xero Competition (Warrington) will sport their Corvette C5 in the GT2 (formerly N-GT) class, currently the top class in the leading British Sportscar championship.

The Xero Corvette has run in the class since 2002 with much success and continual development, seeing the team become podium contenders and winners on visits to international Belcar meetings. Ryan will be partnered by the team's 2004 driver, Ricky Cole (Southampton). With Ricky at just 20 years old and Ryan 25, this will create a young and, certainly energetic and determined team destined to be contenders from the onset.

Ryan tested the Xero Corvette at Donington Park and was immediately impressed. Having driven a Cup Class Corvette in the British GT Championship in 2004, that was largely developmental, Ryan was perhaps initially apprehensive of the American muscle machine.

"Straight away the difference was immense" said Ryan, after his first taste of the car. "The power was amazing but comfortable and I felt confident with the car very quickly. I felt straight away this was a car I wanted to drive and help develop. I could see it was good and there was even more to come."

The team were dually impressed with how quickly Ryan came to grips with the car and the feedback he was able to give them.

"He has a good technical ability which will help him fit in well with the team and make sure we get the best out of him and the car in 2005" Team Principal Dave Beecroft commented, happy with the recent addition to team.

"I'm really looking forward to racing with Ricky and Xero" Ryan said. "They've proven themselves to be very dedicated and I'm so pleased they want me to be part of their team and can guarantee I will give it my all."

The team are now preparing for pre-season testing before the opening round of the season at Donington Park in April. The season will see them travel the length and breadth of the United Kingdom as well as races at Mondello Park in Eire and Magny Cours in France.
