Ryan Hooker's Seven Trophy Haul

Ryan Hooker (Upminster, Essex) came home from the Porsche 924 Championship Awards Ceremony with more than an armful of accolades, winning no less than seven trophies.

Ryan, who won the Porsche 924 title in 2002, credits the series as having been an important part of his motor racing development. He now competes in the prestigious British GT Championship, as he nears his goal of international Sportscar racing. At 25 years old, Ryan is held by many to be one of the country's most promising young drivers in the Sportscars field. However, he has not forgotten his Porsche roots and as such, when the calendar has allowed, Ryan has continued to race at selected Porsche 924 rounds.

This year Ryan was able to compete in 9 of the 14 races of the Porsche 924 championship and achieved the amazing feat of taking maximum points from each round he entered! Due to British GT commitments, missing rounds of the Porsche series meant he was unable to mount a challenge on the title but was more than pleased to finish a strong fourth place overall. Oh so he thought until he attended this weekend's award dinner held in Coventry.

"I went to the awards expecting to pick up fourth place and was more than pleased with that" said Ryan, "but when the announcements were made it turned out that due to the championship scoring allowing drivers to drop a certain number of rounds it meant I was actually third so that was a very pleasant shock!"

In addition to his third place trophy, Ryan also picked up the Jeff May Memorial Trophy (awarded to the winner of the opening Brands Hatch race), the Barne Ruche Trophy (awarded to the winner of the opening Snetterton race), Driver of the Day (Brands Hatch), Most Fastest Laps, Most Wins and Most Pole Positions.

Ryan will continue to support the Porsche 924 Championship in 2005 when time allows. "I am looking forward to finalising and announcing my plans for 2005 which I can say will be in the British GT Championship" Ryan said.

The British GT Championship is the country's premier sportscar championship. For those who would like to become a sponsor of Ryan's 2005 campaign, which offers excellent promotional opportunities and media exposure, they are warmly invited to contact Ryan Hooker Racing at sponsorship@ryanhooker-racing.co.uk for further information.
