Today's British GT race was red flagged after approximately twenty minutes when the Rob Austin Racing Ginetta exited the race in a fireball. Losing control through cascades, the No.55 car driven by Hunter Abbott spun and then hurtled into the barriers.

On impact the car flipped end to end, over the safety barrier, and then burst into flames. Unstrapping himself from the carnage, Abbott was seen struggling from the car with his legs on fire, until marshalls speedily ran in to put the flames out.

After a 20 minute break to clear the carnage, the race was restarted with a shortened length of thirty minutes.

Abbott was able to get into the medical vehicle without assistance and is heading to hospital for precautionary checks.
