Beechdean impress on GT debut
Beechdean Racing picked the Britcar finale at Brands Hatch to debut their new Ferrari 360 GT3 car. The car was being driven by Aaron Scott and Rod Carman.
The weekend got off to a flying start as Aaron set 3rd fastest time overall in qualifying, 2nd in the GT3 class and ahead of all the teams rivals from the British GT Championship.
Rod Carman, driving his 2nd race in a GT3 Ferrari was trusted with the job of starting the race for the team. Rod drove a fantastic opening lap to hold onto 3rd place but a clutch problem began to inflict the pace of the car and he fell back to 7th position at the pit stop. Aaron then took over the car and had to bring the car in for a number of pit stops as the team investigated the problems with the electronics on the car. After rejoing the race in a distant 16th place, Aaron fought back to a strong 12th place overall and 4th in class. The team were encouraged by there pace at the end of the race despite the problems with the car.
Team boss Andrew Howard was encouraged by the weekend, " We have shown our pace this weekend and we have also found that we have some areas to work on to improve the car's performance. The problem with the clutch on the car undoubtedly cost us a top 6 finish today. We will sit down now as a team and decide the next step for us. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank my team for all there hard work this season."
The team will now decide which Championship to enter in 2006.
