Aaron Scott secures further points in the Ultima at Round 9 of the British GT Championship.
Surrey race ace Aaron Scott (www.aaronscott.co.uk), and his Master Motorsport team mate Steven Brady, were at Thruxton for round 9 of the British GT Championship last weekend (August 16th-17th).
Qualifying took place on Saturday afternoon and Steven placed the car in 10th place on the grid, unfortunately a gearbox failure bought an early end to the session before Aaron could complete a lap in the car. This meant that Aaron entered the start of the race with only a handful of laps in the car, having missed testing on Friday to allow the team to focus on Steven.
Steven made a solid start to the race and the presence of the safety car after 30 minutes allowed the team to make an early stop to change drivers. Aaron was up to 3rd place at the restart but soon settled into 5th place as the more powerful Ferrari and Mosler cars charged to the front of the field. On the final lap a suspected half shaft failure put Aaron back to 6th place as he limped the car to the flag.
Aaron Scott said, "I am very pleased to get to the flag again, albeit that we had the problem on the final lap, which effectively cost us 5th place. Although I know Thruxton very well, this is the first time I have driven the circuit in a GT car, having had only a handful of laps prior to my stint in the driver's seat. I am very pleased with my performance this weekend and delighted to score some more points for the team."
The next round of the British GT Championship takes place at Spa in Belgium on August 31st.
