At lap 493 of the Bathurst 24-Hour, there were reports that the leadiing of 427# Monaro was suffering overheating problems and might be heading for a pit stop in the final 80 minutes. Garth Tander would take over.

Peter Brock stepped out of 05# and handed to Greg Murphy at the end of their 49th lap, who has set off on a chase of Steve Richards, one of 2002's co-winners.

A strong drive by Paul Morris has lifted the Falken Tyres 54# Porsche back into third place, 10 laps behind the leaders, but now more than a lap ahead of the Alzen brothers Porsche, which leads Class B.
