Wilton, CT- By way of a victory in the American GT Challenge event held Saturday July 3rd as the fourth race of the American GT Challenge series entertained race fans at Lime Rock Park, Ford Motor Company moved into a tie for first place in the Constructors Championship for AGT. Chevrolet is placed second while Oldsmobile is third.

Ford leapt into the Constructor's Championship tie with a convincing performance at Lime Rock Park. Ford earned points at Lime Rock for achieving both the pole position as well as winning the event. There was no milling about as Eric Curran in the number 29 Garden Iron/Sky Blue Racing Mustang managed to hold off race long challenges for the lead, first from the Happy Hands Massage Corvette of Paul Newman and later from the number 72 Don Q/ El Tuque Corvette of Edison Lluch. Lap after lap the three cars entertained an enthralled audience as they drove deeper and deeper into turn one trying to get around each other and the full field of AGT cars.

In addition to Lime Rock, the Mustang has earned FOMOCO points for a win at the inaugural AGT event at Carolina Motorsports Park in April. Ford will now attempt to continue its winning ways through the season's last races.

Chevrolet under the Corvette and Camaro banner has gained constructor points at Carolina Motorsports Park for a win and at Mosport for both the pole and race win. Oldsmobile represented by the Cutlass and Aurora received its only points of the season thus far by qualifying first and winning the Pocono event.

Stay tuned as the American GT Challenge heads into the second half of its first season. With a fall swing through Florida, The Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico to determine who will be crowned the American GT Challenge Champion of 2004. The American GT Challenge uses purpose built tube frame chassis cars, power by a V-8 & V-6 engine, with composite bodies, replicating series produced American touring or grand touring cars competing exclusively on Goodyear Racing Tires.
