Segal Scores Pole at Watkins Glen
Backs up KONI race-win breakthrough with first-ever Rolex Series GT Class pole position

(Watkins Glen, NY) 6 June 2008--Jeff Segal set a fast lap time of 1:52.329-seconds in the No. 69 FXDD Mazda RX-8 on Friday to take pole position for Friday's Rolex Sports Car Series Sahlen's Six Hours at the Glen. The GT Class pole is the first career Rolex Series pole position for Segal, who recently broke through to take his first KONI Challenge race win at Lime Rock Park.

Segal, who is contesting for the Mesco Rookie of the Year award, will be joined by regular co-driver Emil Assentato as well as Nic Longhi for Saturday's six-hour upstate New York enduro.

"It was a good lap for us," said Segal. "I shouldn't be surprised because my car has been really good at all the tracks we've been to this year. The car was really good. I got a good, clean lap out there in qualifying. It's been really good so far, all day today, the guys did a great job preparing it and setting it up for this track. We were strong here last year, we've been strong in the last few races. We've had some problems in the races, but we're trying to close those out tomorrow in the race and follow through with it.

"We're going to try to run a nice clean race, sort of like the 24-hour race. Keep the car going, stay out of the pits and stay out of trouble and see where that shakes out in the last half hour or so," said Segal. "The heat is going to be a factor, but we've got a third driver with Nic Longhi joining us, so that is going to be helpful."

Segal has already shown a strong skill set on the 3.4-mile 11-turn circuit. Last season, he only got one flying lap in qualifying, but still managed to secure fifth on the grid. Going four spots better had the 2007 KONI Champion looking forward to Saturday's 11:00 AM race start.
