Bobby Labonte and Guy Cosmo at the Glen
Bobby Labonte and Guy Cosmo are heading into their third race in the Spirit of Daytona 09 Pontiac Crawford in the Crown Royal 200 at Watkins Glen. The AMD/MarineMax sponsored Crawford will be starting the race from a grid spot of 20th on Friday evening in the Grand American Rolex Series Presented by Crown Royal. Before Cosmo takes the green flag co-driver Labonte will be on NASCAR Live! promoting the Rolex race.
Cosmo and Labonte are both confident in their Watkins Glen run. Labonte will be putting in double stints this race weekend with his ride in the 09 Pontiac-Prototype and the No. 43 Petty Enterprise Dodge Cup car. The 2006 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series event at Watkins Glen International will be on Sunday, August 13. Even with the stressful back-to-back schedule Bobby is having a good time with his race weekend. "The track is slippery and tricky but I am still turning laps. It's a good time. Turning laps on this track will help for Sunday's race. Still the Prototype is much different than the Dodge. There really is no comparison," said Labonte.
Guy Cosmo is looking forward to another Rolex race with Bobby Labonte and the Spirit of Daytona team. "Bobby has been doing great in the car and we both get along so well. It has been a real nice environment with the team and Watkins Glen should be a great venue for us to show what we are capable of. Troy Flis and Spirit of Daytona has worked so hard to make the car competitive and this weekend will be our best shot at a top finish."
Troy Flis, team owner/manager is happy to be at Watkins Glen for the second time this season. "We have turned a lot of laps at the Glen and are ready for the road course. This will be an exciting Friday night race with Bobby and Guy in the driver's seat."
After the Thursday qualifying stint, Spirit of Daytona has one last practice session at 7:00PM before taking the green flag on Friday night.
