Rx.com G&W Motorsports Takes Sixth in Sahlen's 200 at The Glen

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (August 13, 2004) -- The Rx.com G&W Motorsports team took sixth place in the Sahlen's 200 at Watkins Glen International on Friday night. Brent Martini (Laguna Beach, Calif.) took the first stint at the wheel of the Rx.com No. 81 BMW Doran JE4 before handing the reins over to Cort Wagner (Los Angeles, Calif.), who took it to the checkered.

The team was in contention for a podium finish, but was forced to make a pit stop call on tires that ended up dropped the team back to sixth.

"The race was good," said Martini. "We positioned ourselves where we could get on the podium. We thought following the leaders with the call on tires was the way to go. But, it turned out it paid off for those that didn't."

Doran-Lista Racing ending reaping the benefits of the call, winning its first race of the season.

After qualifying was rained out on Thursday, the green flag fell on the Sahlen's 200 with clear skies. However, downpours rolled in midway through the race, making driving conditions treacherous and causing an eight-car pileup.

"I was glad we were able to avoid that one. We've had some bad luck with things like that in recently races, but this time we had a pretty clean race."
