Keen qualifies on pole at Watkins Glen for Farnbacher Loles Racing
8.7.09 Watkins Glen, NY - Taking his second consecutive pole position in the 2009 Grand-Am Rolex series, Farnbacher Loles Racing's Leh Keen of Charleston, SC led the field in qualifying for the Crown Royal 200 at The Glen with a lap of 1:11.788 in the #87 Farnbacher Loles/Shock Doctor Porsche GT3 Cup. The pole was the 10th for Farnbacher Loles in Grand-Am competition, tying the team for seventh on the all-time list. Keen and his co-driver Dirk Werner of Kissenbruck, Germany have a 25 point lead into the GT Class Championship with four wins on the season. In June's Six Hours of The Glen, the #87 also started from the pole and went on to take the win. Keen spoke of his qualifying effort after the session. "Our car clearly likes the track here. I was able to get a bit of a draft from Andrew Davis, which certainly helped. But I needed a perfect lap to get the pole. And thanks to the crew, the car was great right off the truck."
Eric Lux took the fourth spot on the grid after he turned a 1:12.667 in the #86 Farnbacher Loles/Wheel Enhancement Porsche GT3 Cup. Lux will be co-driving with Porsche Junior Team Driver Marco Holzer who is filling in for fellow Porsche factory driver Wolf Henzler.
John Tancredi of Philadelphia, PA and Jim Pace of Ridgeland, Miss. are driving the #84 Farnbacher Loles/Dilysi Racing Porsche GT3 Cup. The #84 will be carrying the logo of the Children's Tumor Foundation, continuing an association with Farnbacher Loles that goes back to the 2006 racing season. Unfortunately, damage from an incident in the opening practice session caused the #84 to miss qualifying, so the car will start from the back of the field.
