Cosmo Looking Forward to Glen Return Weekend

(Watkins Glen, NY) 4 June 2009--With a big Rolex Sports Car Series endurance event on a classic road course, a new teammate, a new race car, and a run in front of some friends and family, Guy Cosmo has a lot to look forward to this weekend.

Cosmo, who steered to the front in the last Rolex Sports Car Series event he ran in the No. 09 Spirit of Daytona Porsche V8-Coyote with co-driver Scott Russell, will return to the cockpit of the unique motor and chassis combination this weekend for the Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen for Spirit of Daytona Racing.

Cosmo will once again team with Russell, but there will also be a third member of the driving roster as well as Rolex 24 At Daytona Champion Antonio Garcia has also joined the effort.

The track, the 3.4-mile "long course" at Watkins Glen, is one that Cosmo has long called home, having grown up on Long Island.

"I'm really looking forward to getting back up to the Glen this weekend," said Cosmo, who has raced nearly everything from F2000 to KONI cars on the track. "Scott has been doing a great job and keeps getting better very time he goes out so I know he's going to love running at the Glen. And of course having someone with the background that Antonio has as part of the team is only going to make us stronger so hopefully we can give this 09 car a great strong run."

As much as he is looking forward to getting to take on the challenge of the upstate endurance event, Cosmo is also excited about what will follow, as the team will be back in action on Sunday with the brand-new specification Coyote chassis, which will also be mated to the stout Porsche V8-

"Obviously I'm a racer so the biggest thing about the weekend is the 6 hour, but I can't help but also be excited about getting in the new car on Sunday. We had a shakedown test and it ran perfectly so I am just really excited about getting the development ball rolling with this new car and seeing how much we can get out of it. It has a lot of potential and the opportunity to be a part of something like this is something I'm really excited about. Hopefully we can make some good strides in testing and then be strong right off the truck when we race it."

The Sahlen's 6 Hour will be broadcast live on SPEED starting at 2 PM EDT on Saturday.
