Watkins Glen, NY (August 18, 2000) - Fans attending the upcoming Bosch Sports Car Summerfest weekend at Watkins Glen International will have an opportunity to meet their favorite sports car drivers and gather autographs during the lunch hour on Saturday, August 26, the track announced today.
Located in the Pit Terrace Corral behind the pit terrace grandstands, the autograph session will start at 12:30 p.m. and will take place at the Milestones Display.
James Weaver, Elliott Forbes Robinson, Didier Theys and Jack Baldwin are all battling for the championship in the premier SportsRacer class and are among those scheduled to attend. Fans will also have a chance to meet and collect autographs from some of the GT class drivers. Saleen Speedlab teammates Terry Borcheller and Ron Johnson compete in the GTO class and enter the weekend at Watkins Glen assured that one of them will capture the GTO crown.
Following the autograph session, fans are encouraged to visit the interactive Milestones display. Milestones offers fans a taste of the past with various memorabilia and historic sports cars. The Milestones display will be open Friday at 9:00 a.m. and will remain open throughout the entire Summerfest weekend.
Milestones also features 24 original paintings by renowned motorsports artist Michael Turner. These paintings, presented by Larry Kessler, were the featured covers of the Formula One and the Six Hours of The Glen souvenir programs during the 1960's and 70's.
