STARWORKS SCORES FIRST THRILLING PODIUM!
After only four months in the young life of Starworks Motorsport, The #8 Corsa Car Care / Xtreme Indoor Karting / Jetset Magazine Starworks Motorsport Dinan-BMW Riley co-driven by 2010 Rolex 24 At Daytona champ, Scottish Ryan Dalziel, and Canadian Mike Forest scored a first season podium finish in the Porsche 250, Round 3 of the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16. Having two cars in the top ten was a true accomplishment for Peter Baron, Starworks Motorsport's team principal. "I am so pleased with this result," Baron said. "The Starworks Motorsport crew did an excellent job and our drivers were able to deliver. Mike did an outstanding job and I am happy that he scored his first Rolex Series DP podium." During their brilliant drive to third place finish, Mike Forest was able to lead 6 laps.
Danish racecar driver Kasper Andersen joined Starworks Motorsport and drove the #7 Starworks Motorsport Dinan-BMW Riley with Bill Lester at Barber Motorsports Park. Unfortunately due to the problems caused by the ashes of the Iceland Volcano and the airlines fiasco, Kasper was not able to race at VIR and was replaced by Joey Hand but Kasper will return in May at Lime Rock. It is Kasper Andersen's first season in North America. At 25, Andersen, a resident of Silkeborg, Denmark, started his racing career in 2000 and has already accumulated impressive experience and is considered to be a very promising driver. Kasper Andersen is sponsored by Flex-Box, a leading worldwide supplier of new and used shipping, storage and refrigerated containers
Ryan Dalziel's impressive results in the 2010 Rolex Series since the beginning of the season allow him to be second in the driver point standings after four events, including three with Starworks Motorsport; Miami, Barber and VIR. Dalziel has joined Starworks Motorsport for the rest of the 2010 season after his triumph in the opening round of the 2010 Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series, the 48th running of the Rolex 24 At Daytona. Ryan drives the # 8 Starworks Motorsport Corsa Car Care Dinan-BMW Riley with Mike Forest and the two drivers are looking forward to winning their first race together this summer!
In addition to finishing third at the Barber event and getting a nice looking trophy, Dalziel and Forest won the SunTrust improve your position award three consecutive times at Miami, Barber, and VIR! This award pays $1,250 to the Daytona Prototype class Rolex Sports Car Series team that improves the most positions during a race. Mike Forest also won the Jim Trueman award twice, in Miami and VIR and with his great results since the beginning of the season. He is ranked sixth in the 2010 Rolex Series driver point standings after four events.
